Mr Chika Mordi – CEO

Appointed in 2013 by President Goodluck Jonathan as the inaugural Chief Executive Officer of the National Competitiveness Council of Nigeria (NCCN). BSc in Economics from the University of Ilorin, He has an MBA and four Master’s degrees in public sector leadership and policy from IESE Business School, Harvard Business School, Harvard University Kennedy School of Government, Johns Hopkins’ SAIS, and the American University.

An accomplished banker with over twenty years in the industry, leading or co-leading successful turnarounds of three failing banks. His is best known for co-leading the team that built UBA Plc from a small, troubled Nigerian bank into one of Sub-Saharan Africa’s largest financial groups with over 20,000 employees in twenty two countries. Chika served on the board of over thirty financial institutions across Africa and the United Kingdom. In addition, he served as the alternate president of the West African Bankers’ Association, Chairman of the Board of West Africa’s first Credit Bureau, and currently holds the position of Chairman at UBA Capital.

Alhaji Aliko Dangote, Founder Dangote Group – Member

Alhaji Aliko Dangote is the founder of the eponymous Dangote Group, which he presides over as President and Chief Executive, a company he built into a multi-national conglomerate. The Dangote Group is one of the world’s five largest cement manufacturers and a global sugar power powerhouse.

Alhaji Dangote is a graduate of Business Studies from the Al-Azahar University, Cairo, Egypt. He started business in 1978 trading in rice, sugar and cement, before he ventured into full-scale manufacturing.

Alhaji Dangote, who holds the national honour of the Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger (GCON), has received several other laurels both within and outside the country, in recognition of his achievements and philanthropy. He is listed by Forbes magazine as a billionaire and Africa’s wealthiest person.

A highly respected philanthropist, Alhaji Dangote serves as the President of the Nigerian Stock Exchange, a Director of Jaiz Bank PLC, Transcorp Hilton Hotel and Dangote Sugar Refinery Plc. He also serves on the Boards of the National Council of Nigerian Vision, Mohammed Bello Endowment for Justice and Jurisprudence, Kano Foundation, the Nigerian Economic Summit Group, African Petroleum Plc, National Investment Promotion Council and several other organisations.

Mrs Bola Adesola, CEO Standard Chartered Bank Nigeria – Member

Mrs Omobola Johnson – Honourable Minister of Communications and Technology – Member

HM Omobola Johnson is a Nigerian technocrat and Minister of Communication Technology in the Cabinet of President Goodluck Jonathan. HM Johnson is a PhD candidate, Cranfield University, Independent Director of Diamond Bank Plc. She has over 25 years’ consulting experience. A former Country Managing Director, Accenture, Nigeria. Served as Director of Custodian And Allied Insurance Plc. Baroness Lynda Chalker – Chairman Africa Matters Limited

Barrones Chalker is a British Conservative politician who was a Member of Parliament for Wallasey from 1974 to 1992. She served as Minister of State for Overseas development and Africa at the Foreign Office, in the Conservative government from 1989 to 1997.
